Mobile ad fraud is any attempt to deceive advertising platforms into paying for fake activity, including bot-driven clicks, fake installs, and stolen attribution. It costs the industry tens of billions of dollars per year and undermines the mobile attribution data that marketers rely on to optimize campaigns. Strong fraud prevention keeps fraudsters out of the data driving your reporting decisions.

The most common types include click spamming (sending huge volumes of fake clicks to win last-click attribution), click fraud and click injection (faking a click immediately before an organic install to steal credit), install hijacking (malware-driven attribution theft), ad stacking (hiding multiple ads behind a visible one to charge for unseen impressions), and organic poaching (fraudulent sources stealing credit for users who would have installed organically anyway). Each one drains budget in a different way, which is why a fraud prevention suite needs to address all of them, not just the most visible.
